On August 31, the APACD´s Hong Kong chapter invited members and interested peers to its show case event “Managing the Unpredictable: A Crisis Communications Case Study”. The event attracted around 40 attendees from a diverse industry background, with majority of them holding regional communications leadership role in Asia.
The audience heard a best case study on managing crisis communication in the digital age presented by Dr. Andreas Meier, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, APAC from BASF. He described the 360 degree communications initiatives used by BASF to send condolences to the affected individuals, address stakeholder concerns and support the company to restore trust after crisis. BASF also shared their crisis preparedness strategy with the audience. The participants were impressed by BASF’s quick responses during the crisis (with traditional media and social media) and the empowerment and trust of the company in response on crisis.
Our special thanks to Dr. Andreas Meier and Anna Tsoi, Regional Communications, Monomers, APAC of BASF for hosting this event and to Nikola Kemper, Azmar Sukandar and Karen Khaw for organising.
